I'm New

Welcome

Are you new to FUMC or thinking about visiting? We're glad you're here! We believe we were made to walk our faith in community and not just on Sunday mornings (though we do love our Sundays!). Faith is something lived out every day, and we want to walk alongside you through all of it, not only when you're in this building. So find a worship service that fits your schedule, come get to know us, and let's keep figuring out what it looks like to follow Jesus, together, all week long.

Interested in Joining?

If you're interested in becoming a member of First United Methodist Church, you're invited to join us at the front of the sanctuary during our invitation at the end of worship each Sunday. You can also reach out using the form below to start the conversation.
Baptism
Baptism is a symbol of new life and a sign of God's love and forgiveness. In baptism, we're claimed by God as beloved members of God's family. Persons of any age can be baptized.
Do I have to be baptized to join the church?
All members of the United Methodist Church are baptized Christians. When you come to join, you can do so through a profession of faith, which includes a time of baptism if you have never been baptized. If you've already been baptized (at any age, in any Christian denomination) we recognize and receive your baptism and welcome you as a transfer from another Christian church. Interested in scheduling a baptism? Let us know using the form below.
What are the expectations of members?
Prayers — commit to pray for our church, community, and world
Presence — commit to be present in worship and other opportunities to grow in faith
Giving — commit to financially support the mission and ministry of the church
Service — commit to find a place to serve, locally, regionally, and/or around the world
Witness — commit to living and sharing a life of faith that reflects your commitment to Christ
What about my kids?
Children who join with their families are called constituent members in anticipation of Confirmation. A confirmation class is provided for 6th graders (or older students who haven't yet been through Confirmation) that introduces the basics of Christian faith and church membership. At the conclusion of Confirmation training, these young people are confirmed as full members.
