A Word from Our Pastor

It is my honor to serve as pastor of this alive and growing church. I invite you to take an active part in our church family, and I will pray that you will become a vital part of our body of Christ here at First United Methodist Church Cleburne. The more you participate and the more friendships you form at First Church, the more meaningful your church experience will be.
As senior pastor, I will practice a ministry style of servanthood and caring that will equip us to be better disciples of Jesus Christ through leadership, preaching, teaching, and pastoral care.

My continuing goals to accomplish this vision are . . .
. . . to lead in creating a vision for the future for our church through encouragement and long-range planning for ministry;
. . . to lead in worship in two ways:
1] Each week, in each of our three different worship times, we will praise God, offer our thanksgiving for God’s many blessings, pray for others and for our world, share in music that uplifts our souls to God, hear God’s written word and a message that affirms the transforming power of Christ, and be challenged to go into the world as the disciples of Jesus Christ,

2] and, each week in worship, I will work to present a sermon message, faithful to the biblical witness, in easy to understand language, that helps us face our everyday lives by proclaiming the answers that the Good News of Jesus Christ gives us through the Gospel message:
  • to lead through teaching and making disciples;
  • to lead by inviting as many as possible to share in our worship and ministry;
  • to lead through praying and caring for those who are hurting.
Again, I want you to know how important you are to this church. I pray that First United Methodist Church Cleburne becomes a place that feels like home to you—a place where you can grow in your faith and find a deep, lasting friendship, not only with the fellow members, but also with Jesus Christ. I am proud and honored to be your pastor.
Grace and Peace,  Pastor Robert
