The Music and Worship Arts Ministries of FUMC, invites you to become a part of this exciting ministry.

The Traditional Music Ministries focus on Christ-centered music, fellowship, friendship, and most importantly the sharing of the gospel of Christ through music in worship and special musical events. It is our hope that everyone who participates in the music ministries program is challenged to grow in Christ and to experience God's unconditional love through the love of music that we share.

Mr. B. Weslee Vance has been the Director of Music Ministries since January 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. He is also the Director of Choirs for Cleburne High School. He loves music (and is an avid golfer). He and his lovely wife, Charli Jo have been married since July of 2012. I have enjoyed being a part of The Vine service as worship leader and leading some singing. I also had the opportunity to give the devotional at the Wednesday evening prayer service last week. I was very grateful for this opportunity and was able to speak about how music works in our prayer and in worship! The message was all about “Singing Prayer.” This message will be delivered again at The Vine sometime after the beginning of the year! Here is a quote from John Wesley:

“Above all, sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in every word you sing. Aim at pleasing Him more than yourself, or any other creature. In order to do this, attend strictly to the sense of what you sing, and see that your heart is not carried away with the sound, but offered to God continually; so shall your singing be such as the Lord will approve here, and reward you when He cometh in the clouds of heaven.”

Music Programs Need Your Help . . .

Enjoy singing in a choir? Pressed for time? Can’t make a long-term commitment? Maybe you could sing with us for a couple of months. The Church Choir needs a little help! Due to vacations and other obligations we will need some folks to be a part of the choir at various times throughout the year. We have some excellent music planned for the services; we need some good voices to help. If you could be in the choir for a short-term, please let Weslee know. Send an email to  Or . . . just come to rehearsal Wednesday nights at 7:30. You’ll be glad you did.

Be a part of our music team. Click here to learn more about Handbells and the Sanctuary Choir.

Through a donation, a choral anthem or bell choir piece may be purchased in honor or in memory of a loved one. This anthem will be stamped in a way that recognizes your loved one. It is our intention that each time this anthem is performed, you will be notified.

Choral anthems may be purchased in the range of $40-$50 per set. Handbell pieces may be purchased between $35-$45 per set. Some musical supplies for special programs during the year which include orchestra scores as well as choir books may be purchased for $350-$500.
Our worship music can be greatly enhanced by guest musicians. The cost of using these musicians varies by the need of our music. A gift in this area not only enhances our worship service, but in a community that supports the arts and provides musical training in public schools, it can also help support the musicians of the future. When making a contribution for this area, please memo your gift as "musicians.”

The Handbells are in need of polishing and refurbishing. A donation could make this possible. Please consider  supporting your music ministry team in one or more of the following means. After all, we are in the business of glorifying God in our music!

As part of the ongoing Scholarship program of FUMC Cleburne it has been our honor to partner with Hill College to invest in the music training of several students during the past two years. The recipients of these scholarships have to maintain the requirements of the program. They must be students in Hill College, have good grades, active in the music program at the college, attend FUMC          rehearsals and services as planned, and set good examples as musicians in a church program. When you designate money to these funds you will be given credit for gifting a Church/Charity program. You will make an investment in the training of these young musicians.
